Umbrellas for my storm

I spent the last two days thinking about my storm post. And two things occurred to me.

First, it helps to sleep a night and think more the next day.

Second, the umbrellas that keep off the raindrops are the tiny things of life. The sunshine, the flowers, the smile of the baby, the new shoes, the blades of grass; all the things that we're given to enjoy and to be thankful for.

I've known it all along. But I forget. It's in the small moments of gratefulness after a large amount of sleep that I'm given the peace and calm that I need.

Today I was grateful for these: a bunch of fresh lavender that scented my drive home from Sydney and gave my eyes rest and delight.
