10 hugs

My younger son is 7. It's a very huggy age and he's making the most of it. A while ago I decided that I would always hug my children when they wanted it, or if I couldn't do it at the exact time, I would owe hugs for a later date.

Recently he decided that he'd like to have 10 hugs at bedtime. I gave him the 10 and then he said, "I think I'd like 10 hugs every night."

"OK," I said, but sometimes he's fallen asleep before I've gotten up there to give them, so we do them the next day.

It's really lovely to hug someone ten times in a row, especially a little smiley freckle-nosed boy who hugs back.
