Autism. Let's....

One of the keys of RDI is that we build 'intersubjectivity'. In other words, we lay the foundations and the connections for relationships with other people. Messy, tricky, interesting, unpredictable relationships.

I've been listening to some seminars on mindfulness recently, and one thing that struck me was that in RDI we need to focus less on the task when we work together on the child and more on the relationship.

"Let's do it together" is a key phrase I think about a lot when I'm with Bright Eyes. I often get stuck on 'it' though, and miss the important parts of 'together' - making discoveries, sharing experiences and forging new connections.

The seminar reminded me to think less about 'Let's build a bridge/road/whatever', and more about 'Let's see what happens.'
