Cross country joy!

Even though I posted about being tired living with autism, I'd also like to share some joy.

This week, my boy did something unheard of. He took himself off to school on cross-country carnival day, first of all. He refused to run, but he did watch and cheer.

As if that wasn't great enough, he then took himself to the small-schools carnival as well. (We have two because our school is so little. The second one is so the good runners get some real competition.)

Not only did he go, but He Ran! And at the end, according to another mother who was there, all the kids were cheering for him to finish.

He came up to me at pick up. "Mum, do you want the good news or the bad news? The good news is I went and I ran and I came 34th. The bad news is that our school didn't win for the first time in 12 years." (Yes, he's a numbers man...)

Joy! Delight! Yippee! This boy is going places. I feel fantastic about his progress right now.
